A Little Deception Here a Little Deception There
By Tracye Gano
www.prophezine.com

Deception is nothing new, it has been around since the Garden of Eden. It comes in many forms. The deceptions of today range from outright lying to the extremely subtle changing of something before anyone realizes what is going on.

The dictionary defines the word deceive "To give a false impression" to "practice deceit" or "to cause to believe what is not true; mislead". [1]

This brings me to what prompted me to write on the subject. I ran across this article on pastors.com, written by a pastor of a church in New England.

"I also launched the purpose driven concept. But I never called it by that name, and I never talked about Pastor Rick's book or Saddleback Church. After all, most folks in New England think that only kooks live in California. So, I made the target and the baseball diamond my own. I felt that if I couldn't sell the idea without waving a book around, then it wouldn't fly. We were in it a year before anybody knew these things didn't originate with me. We were doing it before folks knew where it all came from" Frank Accardy.[2]

I was shocked at how much pride the pastor seem to take in deceiving his congregation. It highlighted for me just what we as Christians are up against in these last days.

What were once deceptions reserved for those outside the faith we are now finding in those that “profess a faith”.

Unfortunately in today’s climate it is becoming more perilous to point out these errors. The change agents of our day are doing a nice job of labeling those of us who would question this pastors honesty as legalistic.

The Word of God says the delusion in the end times will be great, that evil will be rampant and that many false teachers will be available to espouse the enemies lies.

I believe we are on the eve of our Lord Jesus Christ’s return, and now more than ever we need to draw nigh unto Him and search the Scriptures daily. We need to study His Word; the truth, so that we are able to discern these days of apostasy and strong delusion.

Psa 119:104, 105 - Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

You are misrepresenting what this man did in his church and should read the whole article. Ripping things out of context is not a valid means of critique. It is in fact, deception.

I did not misrepresent the article and the above quote from the article IS most definitely about deception!

"Unfortunately in today’s climate it is becoming more perilous to point out these errors. The change agents of our day are doing a nice job of labeling those of us who would question this pastors honesty as legalistic." Perilous? Hardly. You like to throw around epithets like “deceiver,” yet you can’t handle being called a legalist? Frank Accardy simply implemented the ideas before he eventually gave credit for them. What your real problem is with are the ideas themselves and that is where you should keep your focus. (I don’t like everything that Warren is doing myself.) This is what those who desire to be innovative have to put up with in these last days….
