“O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you…in a weary land where there is no water.”
The world is full of many competing gods. Each wants my sacrafice. Each wants my morning, a moment of kneeling and adoration so they can be the object of my desire all day. First sacrafice is sleep, for I must rouse myself and lay my rest on the altar for the god of responsibility. Second sacrafice is time, for I must continually watch the clock to saitsfy the god obedience. And then there is the god of lust and desire, he wants my eyes and ears all day so we can offer me what I can and can’t have.
But I have one true God, who walks with me who wakes me from my peaceful sleep, makes my minutes count, and lifts my eyes higher than the “Sale” sign. I will seek him today.
“Thank you Lord, for you alone are my God, and worthy of every sacrafice. I will push all the others away to follow you. ”
