I was reading an article on fusing glass and it was fascinating to look at the pictures and see that it wasn't one layer, or even two, to get the best look it took three.
There was a base glass, and oddly enough, it was either very dark or very light, and the end result was totally different in how the colors interact - a mood of sorts, either somber or bright.
On top of this base the colors were added, in tiny pieces or sheets covering the entire base; this was the focal point the part that draws the eye, each detail put so carefully into place.
Then over it all went a sheet of clear glass, keeping all the colors below in view, and when fired in the kiln, they all three melted together, forming something brand new.
It reminded me of how God fashions our life, if only we let Him have full rein, the transformation that takes place is total and complete, we will never again be the same.
He give us a base, a foundation to build on, built on the rock of His word, and then in the middle He places the colors of our lives, places to go, people to see, things to be endured.
And over it all is the clear prism of His grace, allowing us to see, not what we were, not opportunities lost, but all the wondrous things we can be.
Think of the jewels we can create together, the two of us that God in His love made one, as each day dawns, we can begin again, a joyous task that will never be done.
Jesus is the foundation on which we build, His love making ours even more, and the colors we add of peace, joy and delight make our spirits soar.
We add some laughter, and gentle words of love, and when we're done, we know that God's grace will melt all we have together, making a beautiful 'one'.
I thank God every day for the love I have, the beauty that fills up my heart, and the knowledge that God brought you and I together, never again to be apart.
