One day a candle was lit in my heart, its glow was warm and bright; Jesus lit it to let me know I was His, and I'd forever be in His light.
It was just enough to see the path that my next few steps would go, but not enough to see too far in the future, that I did not need to know.
The light was enough to see and read His word every day, and it lit up the landmarks placed there by God, so I would not lose my way.
It is a wondrous thing to always see that flame, to know that I belong to Him, and that once lit, the flame will never go out, the light will never grow dim.
Then off in the distance along the same path, I saw another flame glowing bright, and I wondered that it was in my path, inviting me to join in its light.
When I got closer I realized it was not a "what" but a "who" and my heart confirmed what Jesus had done, He had made my cherished wish come true.
For the light that I saw that day was the one glowing in your heart, and our two flames were meant to join and become one, together our new life would start.
But when you look close into that one glowing light, you will see not one flame
but three, the first one is Jesus, who brought us together, then there is yours, and the third one is me.
Each of us remains distinctly ourselves, but together we're somehow set free, for in the light of God's loving direction, we can become what we were always meant to be.
I thank God each day for lighting that flame, for teaching me what was real and true, and for bringing into my life such love, that is wrapped up like a gift, in you.

This is a beautiful love story in poem form - it would still work well with a few less words and if the piece was set out in lines of four, it would "read" more as a poem - the spirit of love, nevertheless. Best wishes.
