The Evil One Killed Again.
I’m doing a funeral today. The family of this beloved Grandfather is some very dear friends. He died before his time because he died by his own hands.
He was a World War 2 marine veteran that had served his country with honor, came back to the USA, married, raised a family, lost his wife in 2001 and died of self-inflicted wounds this week. The director of our local community mental health told me that one of the highest suicide risk groups are elderly white men. Why do they believe it is better to die then to live?
He left a not to his daughter that said;
Dear Daughter, "I’m sorry but I can’t take the pain."
What kind of pain are we talking about? He had both physical pain from his 81 years of life and emotional from the death of his dear wife.
Pain- (ache, hurt, grief, sorrow, anguish.) However you say it; pain can become a severe emotional, mental and physical distress that can put us all in the darkest place know to mankind. Satan loves to use pain. Remember he is the father of lies;
John 8:44, “You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”
The evil one often enters our pain and sorrow and uses it to lie to our soul. I have heard Satan speak his destructive words to me while I was in pain. He said, “It’s not worth it! Give up! You can’t go on. There is no hope. The pain will never end. No one knows or cares about you and your pain! It is better to die and to live! He would have been better for you to die in the first place.” Lie after destructive lie repeated over and over again and again to your soul which is battered by pain and sorrow.
John 10:10 says that the evil one comes to steal and kill and destroy. Satan has murder on his heart. He is an assassin! His goal is to kill each one of us. Never be mad at the victim of the murderer but hate that bloody demon.
We need to tell those in pain that the answer is not death. Suicide brings no comfort. We need to speak hope, life and peace into the pain. Remember Satan and pain never quit attacking the souls of those in anguish we must never stop fighting and “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
