Titus 2:11-13 says for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, teaching us that denying ungodliness and worldly lusts we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present world; looking for that blessed hope and glorious appearing of the great God and our saviour Jesus Christ who gave himself for us that he might redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
My subject is there is no hope without Christ. The word hope means a desire for something good accompanied with at least a slight expectation of obtaining it or a belief that it is obtainable.
We who are in Christ are in hope for his great appearing, who will take us out of this world into a glorious paradise. When we were in the world we had no hope because we did not know Christ. Therefore, we were children of hell. True hope is in Christ not in man or self because apart from him we can do nothing. As Christians we believe that we will obtain the glory that is in Christ. We are expecting to make it to the golden city where there is no pain, sorrow or suffering, just righteousness, joy and peace in the Holy Ghost.
The world hopes to make it to heaven by other means but there is no hope without Christ. For any hope without Christ is hope that`s in vain. There are many beliefs in this world but only one truth. Jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life, no one cometh unto the Father but by me (St. John 14:6). It is only when this world repents and receives the truth of his blessedness that the world can enter into his righteousness. He alone can redeem us from a corruptible body into an incorruptible one. He alone can redeem a world from darkness into light. It must be known that Jesus Christ is the hope of glory since no man can into the glory of God without Christ.
Our expectation of Christ must consume us to the point that it becomes an obsession. We must continue to thirst after righteousness and be filled until it drowns us. Oh the riches and the blessings which are in Christ Jesus. As the world continues to run to and fro we, who know that the Lord is our strength, will hope in the Christ of God. Amen.
