Wandering throughout this life of mine
I sometimes find myself in situations out of rhyme
I stumble in my vanity and awkward pride
When I turn from my Heavenly guide
Darkness has enveloped me at times
As a fence that has been covered with vines
Choking out each ray of sunshine
That is as it has been, each day of mine
I do not move, but tarry through each day
But I know my Lord is there no matter what some say
Forgotten me, I know he has not
Though sometimes I fear that he forgot
And at times I feel as though he has abandoned me
Left me all alone to simply wait and see
If I will remember the promises he made
Or if I will do those things that he forbade
Sadly, I confess, sometimes I do fall
From the toddler walking, reverting to a crawl
How many times must I fail such a test?
Perhaps until I finally get the result that’s best
That which God has planned for me in my life
Gets sidetracked by my own created strife
I only hope to soon see the bright sunshine
That is as it should be, each day of mine
Basking in the rays of light and absorbing the glow
That is what is meant for my wandering soul
Each day of mine shall continue until done
When on that day I shall see the Son
