"Well girl, all I can tell you is that you’re a walking time-bomb." Dr. Tvedten said as he sat in a chair by my hospital bed.
Can you imagine hearing these words spoken to you? I have what is called Low Protein C Deficiency . It means that my blood doesn't produce enough Protein C, which is the agent that helps keep your blood thin enough to pass through your veins. My blood can form a blood clot anywhere in my body.
I was also told that basically there was nothing they could do except to try to keep my blood thin with medication.
Now, with this death threat hanging over my head, I could have just gone home and waited to die. But, that was not my way. You see, I knew a healer more powerful than any doctor. His name is Jesus.
This death sentence was told to me over twelve years ago. I'm not saying that the disease went away. It could have, if that had been God's intention. But, you see God had other plans for me. Even Paul had his "thorn in his side".
I believe that every blood clot I've had and survived is a testimony of how great my God is. You see, sometimes I get so busy trying to live and work in this world, that I lose track of who it is that takes care of me. And that is when the blood clots strike and I'm flat on my back with no where to look but up.
What do I see there? I see the loving face of the one who died for me at Calvary and who by his stripes am I healed. I get reminded each time, of who it is I'm suppose to be leaning on.
The doctor may be right. I just might be a walking time-bomb. But if I am, I hope when I go off it's while I am about my father's business.
