I’ve been searching for a hidden talent that only I can do.
One inspiring and such a delight that will surely impress you.
Alas, I’ve looked high and low and nothing’s to be found,
Perhaps I could borrow one of yours, if you have extras hanging around.
Could I borrow your talent for typing skills? I promise I’ll hit the right keys.
Oh, wait, look what I’ve already done, every word that I’ve typed has Z’s!
Could I borrow your talent for styling hair? It’s always perfect and such a hit.
Well, I tried it and got in trouble, seems they didn’t like it when I used spit!
Could I borrow your talent for piano playing? You make beautiful melodies.
The piano I tried must have been out of tune, it wouldn’t LET me play the right keys!
I know, may I borrow your talent for cooking? Everyone love the dishes you make.
I tried my best to bake just like you, but everyone just got sick!
Perhaps I could borrow your talent for nursing, I’ve watched surgery on TV.
Oh, NO! The patients didn’t like it when I used vinegar to clean their IV!
Maybe I could use your talent for building, you make houses pretty and strong.
I built mine up--it just took one day--but it fell, guess I did something wrong!
Could I borrow your talent for gardening? Your flowers always seem to thrive.
Well my plants all turned brown and brittle, but still looked better dead than alive!
Could I borrow your talent for racing cars, driving fast, earning all that cash?
I’m sorry, so sorry, I wrecked your car, it wasn’t in my race plans to crash!
It seems I have no special talent to impress you with tonight,
And I can’t seem to beg or borrow one that for me is just right.
But I don’t have to impress Jesus, He accepts me, talents or not.
“Just as you are,” He said, “I love you, and with a price you have been bought.”
So I guess you’ll have to accept me too and love me as I am,
Because I am worth more than talents, for I’ve been purchased by the Lamb!
