She was perplexed that early morning. The thought of bringing the shattered situation together perfectly hunt her desire and faith. She sat and played in reminiscence the catastrophes that allocated this sorrow to her portion. She levered her cheek and volumes of tears drove freely and forcefully. She had lost much and there was a portion of blame to every individual that may be concerned in the files she kept in the rack of her mind. Each time she gets to the end of each road of ideas and alternatives, about these problems. The tap of hot tears is turned on; still under the burden of how to get fixed up and replace the destroyed items during a robbery attack, came merciless a rainfall and subsequent fire disaster sold all her properties to destruction. If she was to see God, she has many questions to ask. She was kept indoor for this thought several days. She was fed up of sympathizers that come to console without any quick solution to the numerous problems as much as she had loved. For this, she loved to be lonely
There was a gentle knock on the half broken door. She felt unconcerned and offered a silent response. She wished the never –give up visitors would just leave her alone but this visitor knocked still. The tide of uncontrollable anger rose within her “would you just leave me and that door alone, I need no visitor” she roared. The visitor kept a silence for a while, she thought she had succeeded in the chase but half a minute passed, then knock came again gently, she roared the same words, but the gentle knock will not be intimidated. She went to the door to see the nuisance knocking, she thought. When she got there, she met an elderly man accompanied by four men. They held some few bags and their tools’ kit; her anger was astonished, she had never seen them in her life .however, she was not willing to let them in. The elderly man gave a gentle, loving and encouraging smile, “we are here to fix this up” he pointed to the house. Fear ran through her mind , she thought about another catastrophe “ so they are going to take this last belonging of mine, “what a life” she sighed, she replied, it is mine” the old man replied, yes “ I know it is yours, and will be yours, but we want to fix them up for you” she stirred for a while at him and rolled her eyes to see through the standing, willing and composed men with their bags and tools’ kit. She smiled with confirmed doubt “fix up my house” she muttered with astonishment, waited for a while and let them in “who sent them? Why are they here? Are these men not trying to deceive me?
The old man sought for permission to walk around the house but she had not been let loose from the trance of her doubt. the old man walked around, picked out a pencil from his pocket and a plain sheet as he walked around, he scribbled some things as well made some sketches and at interval, turn to these four working men and drew their attention to some instructions and information about some peculiar places in the house. After the indoor inspection, the old man kept scribbling some things as well as making some sketches and discussing with his men though conscious of her, but ignored her anxieties. He proceeded to the outdoor inspection. He went in with these four men and gave them order, “Fix it up in this way” and he showed them the scribbling and sketches and “I will develop the master plan”. And the men got to work. She looked at the men, and attempted to stop them and look at the always composed and smiling elderly man who responded with a gentle smile. She muttered with a chronic stammer tone, “I cannot pay the bill” she started weeping, “I am very poor and have nothing left. I’d lost all, I mean all”. The old man held her and said “daughter, don’t worry, just sit here, he pointed to a comfortable seat in the living room, someone had paid the bill”. She almost lost her breath, who? she responded, I have no one left.” the old man looked through to her and with a smile and replied I did. She wondered, and walked around astonished. She asked “why?” the old man smiled,” my daughter I am your father, you never knew. You were kidnapped from birth and since, I’d sought for you!
These four men did a wonderful work, to fix up according to the old man instructions. The whole work took those days, yet they were zealously happy to render their services. Hope began to light her face as she saw completlely messed up rooms and structure given wonderful design and shape. Before the completion of the work, she had made a good relationship with the old man. they were in constant discussion and her cloud of doubt was now dispelling.
Can you imagine her house turned the wonder of the nation? And people wonder where this poor and helpless could have got the money to fix up the house and employ the best men to do this great fit. But the secret is that, she had met the best architect in the nation who happens to be her father who has been searching for her since she was kidnapped from birth!
About 14 years ago, I was at a programme, a watch night service at Ibadan. It was the time for testimonies and two women gave their testimonies to confirm and compliment the Lizzy’s experience and encounter with the nation’s best architect. The first young lady had her suite full of many items raced down by fire and she incurred great debt. She summoned up courage again to rent another one and got some other items for sales. Subsequent year, there was a terrible flood which swept all away. After gathering up the courage she started out again. While this business was coming up again, there was a fire disaster at that business centre and all her items were destroyed. These successive losses she experienced in a short period of time. She was perplexed and really do not have breath within her. But like David, she encouraged her self in the Lord.
One beautiful Tuesday, she gathered all the courage within her to attend the bible study of her denomination. Indeed a bible study, but the minister for that day was sensitive enough to sample out the troubled young woman and it all change from teaching to prophecy and he did that under the inspiration. Before the year ran to an end, this frustrated woman was confirmed a regular and permanent contractor to a thriving company and by this, she recovered all that she had lost in previous disasters and years.
Shortly after this testimony, an elderly woman came to the podium and raised everyone voice up for a beloved hallelujah. She narrated her terrible life. She was a terrible drunkard; she was also a committed and stubborn debtor. This miserable life she was living all along. A sister often come, who had earlier introduced Jesus to her. However, that was not in the list of her concerns and considerations. She was in this terrible state as well getting drown in debt. One day, one of her creditor came and arrested her after a serious fight. There and then she was fed up with this life of hers. Fortunately, the same lady who had visited her couples of time to tell her about Christ surfaced at that moment and with much plea the creditor promised to come for another round of trouble, but that was not necessary any longer.
She went to fellowship that day, there, Jesus met her wretched soul and turned her messed up life into blessing. She stopped that business and prayerfully commenced the making of “akara just like that widow in the scripture. Within that year, there was an increase in sales she paid all her debt and completed her house and still vibrant serving the Lord.
It is wonderful what Jesus can do with a messed up life. Life messed up with sins (sorrow introduce into nature by Satan), situations, circumstances and background. He can work upon them all and fix up all the messes. Just like the story of these three frustrated women who had their past, present and future hope messed up and were all fixed up wonderfully only when they allowed CHRIST in.
He is at everyone’s heart knocking and anticipating your positive reply, if you may let him come in to the situation, He will fix up the mess. He is the greatest architect. It does not matter the degree of destruction to health, hope and helps. He can fix them up.
Terrible sorrows rage in the mind of millions in the world to day, sinners and believers alike. There are compilations of lives which are messed up by sins, devil, ignorance, past parent’s decisions and actions and communities. Countless number of people resign into the hand of fate; they cannot really say where to begin and if this can be answered, they do not have what to begin with. Their heads are bow not for prayers but for fears and tears. Men promises are postponing for lack of means to fulfil them. “No one may help” is the conclusion. But to every one, there is a gentle knock of the great architect of life that visited Lizzy, He understand sorrow, calamity, features, disappointment and that may have paraded themselves in your life this long, but stranger of Galilee is not scared by them all. He keeps knocking and pleading with our beloved souls “let me in, I will fix up the messes. . There are committed men who are not tired working with him. He is knocking and knocking each moment and pleading with your gentle soul “let me in I’ll fix up your messes with wonder. “ There are many doors in a man’s life, the more he knocks them the more you let Him in, the more the glories you see. He is always with ever consistent working men of wonder: Grace, mercy, favour and mighty. If you let him in, they can do the wonder you cannot imagine.
