The race is not given
To the swift nor the strong,
But it is for the one
Who, 'til the end, holds on.
The prize is for the one
Who keeps pressing their way—
The one who keeps their hands
On the plow night and day.
The reward's for the one
Who works while it is day,
And whatever is right—
The Lord will surely pay.
The crown is for the one
Who fights a good, hard fight.
The one who keeps the faith
And upholds what is right.
Do not stop holding on
To God's unchanging hand;
Continue walking in
The Master's perfect plan.
Just keep on being a
Servant faithful and good—
Even when you are often
Misunderstood.
Through all life's ups and downs,
Always be of good cheer;
In spite of what may fall,
Remember the Lord is near.
Wholly upon the Lord,
Continue to depend.
The race is for the one
Who endures to the end.
