It's more than just a Christmas tree
With color schemes so right
Or lists as long as shopping aisles
That wake you in the night.
Or just another day at work
With overtime and more
And surely not some market ploy
That lures us to a store.
It is a night of royal birth
When Heaven can rejoice
For God's own son, His cherished one
Now has a human voice.
A night when every star can dance
As angels fan their wings
While all on earth with life and breath
Their welcome chorus sings.
And so before that Christmas tree
And lists of things to do
Recall again that wondrous night
And God's first gift to you.
