A Mother's Christmas Eve Night

It's the night before Christmas, I am feeling so

blue. The house is a mess and I need a new

hairdo. No help for me from hubby and kids, they

have all gone to sleep instead. It’s now midnight

and I am looking for dirty laundry under the bed.

I pray to the Lord my soul to keep. The trash

needs taking out and the snow sure is deep.

The mountain of dishes is still waiting for me. I

clinch my teeth and hope this is not reality.

I have been up all night preparing for tomorrow’s

Christmas dinner. I made an apple pie that is

sure to be a winner. I place the turkey in the

oven to cook, Ooops! found my misplaced book.

Now it’s four in the morning and it’s time to be

Santa. I must get through with all the presents

before they awake. Then just maybe I will have

time for a little coffee brake!

Here comes hubby and kids down the stairs,

excitement fills the air. I pour a cup

of coffee and brush the hair from my face

so I could see. All of a sudden hubby

appears, "is that for me?” Happily I relinquish

my cup, then turn around and trip over the

pup.

As I watch my hubby and kids open their

presents, the weariness sets in from a job well

done.

To have a home and family full with love and fun can

only be made possible by God’s only son.

Merry Christmas Chandra, This is really cute. It reminds me of a Christmas poem my Dad wrote about 50 years ago when I was little. I still have it. Someday your's will be a classic. :) Blessings wished, Jacque

Your poem brings smile to my face. Very realistic, and well-written. As a mom, a wife, and a full time nurse, I can relate. Thanks for sharing and Merry Christmas to you and yours! Blessings, Gloria
