(Hear O God, my plea)
(Hear O God, my heart)
I long for just a response,
something to cling to, to feel your hand.
(And yet my flesh rips at my spirit…)
(And yet I allow my feet to follow…)
Cringing back from your touch,
but continuing to beg for you to reach out.
(Is this to be me?)
(Is this the man you died for?)
Conflict rages as flashes of nail pierced hands tug at my false realities,
have I failed you?
(And I sigh…)
(And I sigh…)
I feel the contempt as it rushes out,
like stings & thorns it hurts but the fresh breath so sweet like the new beginning,
my renewal.
(With open arms I ask you…)
(With silent tears you answer…)
“Why must I fight? Why does it hurt?”
“take me… just take me!”
(Hear O God, this last request)
(Hear O God, this prayer of mine)
“Father fly into me, reach out with your wings & touch the tip of my soul,
let not the words come but let my spirit bow before your hands.”
