This peice is the harmonizing of a song and a short poem, written in honor of those members of the worldwide body of Christ whom are punished for only one crime, that of claiming Christ alone as Lord:
(Verse 1:)
From the Christian man imprisoned, to the refugee far from home, to the beaten orphan child, who sleeps, upon the coldest stone. Jesus the Messiah cares; his heart will never rest. He walked the road of suffering, that beautiful, painful Quest.
(Chorus:)
We ask you Father, give strength to your people. We ask you Father, that we might see your face, in the midst of our suffering, and behold the beauty of grace. Do not leave us, in the darkness for long, but help us to realize, that our trials have made us strong. We ask you Father, that you would hear our prayer. As we walk through these fires from hell, let us know that you are near.
(Verse 2:)
From the tortured, chained pastor, to those meeting in the secret place, to the limping man who walks, hundreds of miles, just to share about God's grace, Jesus the Messiah cares; his heart will never rest, he walked the road of suffering, that beautiful, painful Quest.
Oh my precious bride, my beautiful one, my lover,
how I long to come running to you and sweep you up in my arms, whisking you away from all of this heartache!
My soul is in sheerest anguish, and my spirit quakes within me to see you bearing the weight of pain that I too once bore. But, your pain is becoming your greatest glory, just as my pain already has. Many may say that your scars have made you grotesquely ugly, but alas, my lover, to me they have become the very defining marks of your most exquisite beauty! For Your scars, oh my Church, match my own!
