Twas a Christ-Centered Christmas
By Wendy Stewart Hamilton

“Twas a Christ-Centered Christmas”
I loudly exclaimed.
Glad of the Difference,
Thrilled for the Change.

Gone were the wishes,
Expectations and more,
Of Wish Lists and
Whining for cool toys galore.

Instead something different
Had settled in place,
A Peace and Goodwill
That came from God’s Grace.

No trips to the store.
No trips to the mall.
No online shopping.
No shopping at all!

The Christmas Tree decked
From limb to limb,
Told the Story of Jesus,
Spoke of the Life of Him.

In a manger in Bethlehem
Was a little boy laid.
The true Gift that Christmas,
Was the One that God gave.

Sheep and Shepherds
That night Jesus found,
And told Jesus’ Mother,
About the Angels around.

A little while later came
A Knock on the door.
Some wise men stood waiting
With themselves and more.

“We’ve followed a star”
To where the Child lay.
They gave gifts a plenty,
To Jesus that Day.

And Jesus grew up
In God’s favor and Man’s.
It was just as God designed,
Just as God planned.

A Perfect Life lived,
That ended one day.
When for our Salvation,
His own life He gave.

No Greater Love
Could we ever hope to find.
Than the love Jesus showed
For all of mankind.

Brought down from the Cross
And placed in a grave,
In the depths of earth
Redemption was made.

And from Death He arose,
And walked among men,
“Tell the Good News”
In the World; Without end.

And then in the sky,
And then out of sight
“Soon I’ll return
As a thief in the night.”

“Then I’ll take you to
Live forever with me.
You will know Heaven,
And Live Eternally. “

*****
The tree lights flash,
A reminder for me,
To be a candle in the darkness
So that all can see.

The true Christmas story
How Grace really saves.
How Man finds Redemption
Through a Babe, Cross and Grave.

How God brings new life
And a renewed dedication,
To each Christmas we share
As a Christ-Centered Celebration.

Always remember the true meanings of the season – it is a story that begins with a baby and continues to us through a Savior. It is a celebration of what was, what is and what is to come.
