I found out one day that life goes on
and you can live beyond the pain
realizing that I had a choice
rather to stay in, or come out of the rain
It didn't all happen over night
It took time to even face that tomorrow
but a thought came, it said who are you
do you want to live, or bask in your sorrow
What can stop you from enjoying life
who can keep you from having the best
if you can answer this, then your on your way
now put all those bad years to rest
pick up all those broken pieces
bag them up and toss them away
then pray to God to mend the cracks
so you can lay claim to each new day
He did cup my tears and calmed my fears
and I no longer had to cry
He healed my heart that was torn and shattered
when I asked of him to stop by
a Savior of life he was to me
showing me that life wasn't over yet
and that he could use me for his purpose
and no longer would I have to regret
to see the sun rise each day
and I could welcome the moon at night
I could wear a smile in the darkest hours
because of his joy filled light
He released all of my heavy burdens
gave me the will to forgive and let go
and then he said to me, go on and live
I will make your life to glow
a promise he made and has truly kept
no more shackles to hold me down
when once I gave my life to him
I'm free and no longer bound
He can do the same for those that ask
he has no respect of persons at all
for he's in the business of mending lives
and is standing by to take your call
