One day the gardener went out to the garden, a single seed in his hand, to the very end of his yard where there stood an empty trellis, standing so lonely on a little patch of clear land.
He dug a small hole, where he put the seed, not too deep in the ground, and covered it over with rich, dark soil, and gently patted it down.
It was cold in the garden, winter seemed to have come to stay, keeping everything frozen and still, and nothing at all changed in that landscape, for years it was under a gray chill.
Then something happened, what could it be… a tiny opening in the storm clouds that day, and thru that a single sunbeam shone down, lighting up the spot where that tiny seed lay.
The ground began to thaw, the snow turned to water, and sunk deep in the ground, and the sunbeam warmed the seed buried there, making a change complete and profound.
The sunbeam stayed so steady and true, and the cloud began to roll away, and the entire garden held its breath, waiting to see what God had created that day.
Then into the sun came a tiny hint of green, a brand new plant began to grow, and it flourished and climbed, watered with God's word, covering the trellis with a soft green glow.
It took some time for the plant to reach the top, but when it did, what had been hidden suddenly was in view, for there was another plant growing up the other side, and together they made one plant out of two.
The Gardener is God, who planted a seed of His love deep in my heart, that I froze out for years, for I was ruled by my fears, and I refused to listen or to turn, of Him I wanted no part.
God was so patient, staying right beside me, even though I refused to see, until the lowest point of my life, when I couldn't go on, and without much hope, I whispered a plea.
Oh, that was all that was needed, the clouds pulled back, and a beam of love come into my heart, and once I began to thaw in the glow of His love, I knew I had a brand new start.
Like that tiny plant, I began to grow, drinking deep of the water of His word, and though I was slow, I began that climb to the top of the trellis where His voice could be heard.
When I reached the top, a gift waited for me, one that would make all my dreams come true, for God in His wonderful caring for me, gave me love and a new life with you!
