Parable of the Little Brother
There was a little boy following after his big brother. The only way home for them, was to travel on a long path through a small woods. When they entered the woods the little boy stayed close to his brother. Soon, the little boy caught glimpse of a little mushroom, and stopped to looked at it. But the big brother, without stopping, said to him; “That is poisons little one. Come and keep following me, so you will not get lost.”
So the little boy started to follow his brother again. His big brother was a stone toss ahead of him, so the little boy kept his eyes on his brother, and followed him.
Soon, they came to a trunk of a tree that had fallen across the path, and the big brother was able to step over it. The little boy could not though, and he struggled to climb the trunk, but his little leg couldn’t reach the top. He then tried to jump, kicking and screaming; untill he finally gave up, and he cried out to his big brother: “Help me, do not leave me!”
So the big brother turned around and carried his little brother over the stump. Then he said to him: “Little one, if you would have called out to me first, I would have carried you over the stump; when I had crossed it.”
So the big brother carried him a little further, and placed him by his side. They then began walking together; however, the little boy’s legs began to tire, and he slowed down. The big brother kept walking, and soon a distance was between them. And the little boy just kept his eyes on his big brother, and followed him that way.
The little boy soon heard other children playing behind the brush, and he curiously slows down to see. His big brother looked back at him, but kept walking. The little boy looked back at his big brother, and saw him becoming more distant. The children, however, distracted him again, and called to him saying: “Come play with us.”
But the little boy told them: “I can’t, or I will loose my big brother, and he is going home.”
The voices of the children kept insisting him by saying: “Just for a little while. Come play with us.”
The boy looked back to his big brother, and his big brother turned back, and looked at him. The big brother’s eyes were grieved that his little brother stopped following him.
The children called out to him again: “Come play with us.”
But the boy saw the grief in his brothers eyes, and said to them: “My brother is grieved that I have stopped following him. He told me that this is the way home, and he doesn’t want me to get lost.”
The children yelled out: “We’re not lost. We know the way. We can show you another way home.”
The little boy said to them: “But my big brother says this is the only way home.”
“No,” they said; “We know other ways to go. Come play with us.”
The little boy heard the distant voice of his big brother saying: “Little one. follow me, so you will not get lost.”
But the little boy rebelled and went into the brush, to play with the other children.
The big brother loved his little brother too much to leave him. So he walked over to the brush and waited; calling out to him, so he may find his way back to the right path.
It wasn’t long before it was getting dark, and the big brother cries out in desperation: “Little one! little one! Our Father says it’s time to come home, and I don’t want to leave you behind. Come to me quickly, so you may not be left behind.”
But there was no answer, for the other children led him to deep into the woods, and the darkness blinded him.
Whoever has understanding, let him hear.

A poignient and sobering reminder of the importance of following the Lord on the way home, for he is the way. You might wish to correct some of the tenses, but it was well written all the same. God bless and thanks.
