Impossible? Are You Sure About That?

In this world of supposed impossibilities, there are many seemingly futile things that are very possible. A question popped into my head as I wrote another article called "You Must Pay The Price." When did we lose the ability to believe that things were possible? Why is it that now the thought that comes first is that we canNOT do a thing? Only after thinking about it a bit do we come to the conclusion that the thing we wish to do is possible. I am sure that not everyone has this problem. However, for those who do, perhaps there is a solution. The paragraph below stuck out like a beacon even as I wrote it in the other article.
From the day you are born, there is a struggle. It takes effort and energy to sit up, stand, walk, talk. And it takes time. Babies do things over and over again because deep inside themselves they know that in order to achieve the goal they must continue to work at it. They are not even aware that this is possible or impossible. It is just part of the growing process, a piece of built-in information. Do you realize that babies have no perception of impossibility? They just do it until it works. Do they give up? Perhaps for a small time but the next thing you know, the child is back at it.
So when do we lose the idea that things are automatically possible? If babies have no concept of impossibility, and they don't, then it must be a learned response. When are we taught that things we choose to do are impossible? Frankly, adults do this to their children because the concept of "nothing is impossible" hits them as being ridiculous. After all, they already know that many things they tried to do didn't work. Therefore, lots of things are impossible. What happens when you are constantly told something? Don't you begin to believe it? Repetitive things become fact. So, when someone pounds into your head that a thing is totally impossible, that turns into truth. But is it really? Wonder what Jesus has to say about it?
Matthew 17:20, "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."
What did He say? Nothing shall be impossible unto you! Isn't it a bit odd that men say what you want to do is impossible but JESUS says that nothing is impossible? The difference is that the world tries to do things in their own strength and sometimes it works for a while. But have you noticed that the world is declining in wealth? Some of the really rich folks are now crying because they are losing a bundle. All the scandals at the companies have created a new problem. Folks who thought they were well off at retirement suddenly have no retirement money to lean on. But they don't seek God for their riches. In fact, God calls those "uncertain riches" when God is not involved (I Timothy 6:17).
On the other hand, God is capable of all kinds of things. In fact, it is He that we need to run to for help in such times. Why? This verse tells us that. Luke 1:37, "For with God nothing shall be impossible." If nothing shall be impossible for God, then if you abide in Him, walking in the path that God has given you, those things that look totally impossible to you won't be for God and He will bring it to pass.
Isn't it time to sit down and talk with the Father about doing things His way? God did not teach you that anything was impossible. In fact, just the opposite is true. Throughout the Bible, He is showing us that we can achieve great things as long as we abide in Him. Psalm 91 declares that we can live in the shadow of the Almighty, under His Wings, covered by His feathers. What is that? Protection! Phillipians 4:13 proclaims that "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me." All things! By the way, we need to translate that Greek word "Christ." It means the Anointed One and His Anointing. In this case, although we cannot separate the Lord Jesus from His Anointing, we can show that the verse reads "I can do all things through the Anointed One AND HIS ANOINTING which strengthens me." Isn't that incredible? If it says that you can do all things, then nothing is impossible through the Lord.
So, when did we lose the ability to see that we can do everything we set our minds to? A more important question would be; When are we going to realize that all things are possible through Christ Jesus? You know that dream that God gave you that seems so impossible? God thinks it could happen. That's why He gave it to you. Does it seem way too big to even consider? Then consider God and what He can accomplish. He made all living things, light, stars, moon, sun, all in seven days. Guess He can handle some smaller task that He wants you to be included in.
Stop thinking about what's impossible and get into God's dreams. Put God's dreams into your dreamer! You will never look at the world in the same way again.
If you have never asked Jesus into your heart, please take the time now to consider it. He is calling you. You can't believe that He will forgive you? His Grace and Mercy are neverending. Come to Him today. Tell Him you are sorry for your sins and ask Jesus into your heart. It's a life-changing experience. When you do this, you become a member of the family of God! Welcome! Then, get your Bible out and start to find out just how much your Father has for you. Attend a good Bible preaching church (not all do that). And then, start to dream of impossible things!
