As the Mayflower's captain came round the cape
Dissension arose over where to stay
Sixty miles north of Hudson River
Would the Charter hold true to stay at Cape Cod?
Through ten perilous weeks of travel by sea
Fear of abandonment for the party to flee?
So prayer and discussion prevailed that day
The true Navigator in heaven they called out
These words forever hold truth from their mouth
“Having undertaken for the glory of God
And advancement of the Christian faith
A voyage to plant the First Colony
We solemnly.. in the presence of God
And of one another, Covenant ..ourselves
Together into a Civil Body Politic…”
Thanksgiving is true blessing
Recognizing God, Creator, and King
Giving thanks to Him with all their being
Grace and mercy so undeserved
His favor to them reached deep within
His love, His blessing, was undisturbed
Our faithful Lord, they would draw near
Those pilgrims of old, took rest in His care
United in Him, would be no despair
His righteousness, to consider
In Him, their hope, they did pray
In Him, their joy, would rest each day
So, His path for life we’re to follow
To cultivate our growth for each tomorrow
Our Lord we’ll follow, no despair or sorrow
We too, as pilgrims, this Thanksgiving
Giving thanks to our Lord
Trust Him, be this our Thanksgiving
