When people have a relationship, we take the time to get to know each other, understand one another and enjoy the others company. When we are blessed to progress the relationship into a marriage, we spend a life time growing into a more and more intimate knowledge, where even the slightest of details do not go unnoticed. Relationships are a lot of work for both the man and the woman, if it is to survive and prosper. It is a daily commitment, an ongoing venture and a total sacrifice for the one whom we love. Relationships encompass a complete respect, an honoring, a love that is far greater than the way we love ourselves, yet in the same manor that we refuse to hurt the one we love, and would move heaven and earth for them. Our daily lives are committed to pleasing one another. We do all of this, and no matter how we look at it, it is only temporary, it will not last for all eternity.
We are the bride of CHRIST, yet so many believe that we can have a casual relationship and build on it so that we are in HIS presence for all eternity. If a temporary relationship like a man and his wife takes so much effort and sacrifice, how much more would our eternal relationship with our FATHER in heaven take?
When we are married do we only call on our spouse when we need help? NO, we are in communication with one another when we are happy, content, and when the joy is so great we can not contain it, we sit and just be with one another, we enjoy life and all it has to offer with each other. GOD also requires this from us and so much more, HE did not die and rise again for a casual relationship. HE did not die such a grueling death to only be our SAVIOR, HE demands us to make HIM our LORD.
Let us continually strive for and become the bride that honors, cherishes, respects and pleases her bridegroom.
