Mary and Martha summons for Jesus – Lazarus is sick!
They knew that Jesus could fix the problem!
Jesus doesn’t go immediately!
Four days later the body is wrapped in grave clothes and the tomb is sealed!
The body is rotting – the corpse stinks!
Family and friends mourn over the loss of life!
All hope is gone!
They are confused as to why Jesus didn’t come immediately!
You just received notice that your job is ending!
Your daughter has just informed you she is pregnant!
Your husband has announced he is having an affair!
Your wife has just been diagnosed with cancer and they have said there is nothing that can be done!
You just received word that your child has been arrested!
You pray and it seems nothing changes!
You wonder why Jesus hasn’t showed up!
John 11:21 Then Martha said unto Jesus, Lord, if you hadst been here, my brother had not died.
We cry out to God, why are things not changing? I have prayed and it seems things only get worse! If you would just show up on the scene I know things would be different! My child would be serving God, my husband wouldn’t have left, my wife wouldn’t be sick, my job wouldn’t be ending!
John 11:39-40 Jesus said, Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldst believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Hebrews 11:1 now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
II Timothy 1:7 for God hath not given us a spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Philippians 1:6 being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ.
It may appear that Jesus hasn’t heard your cry!
It may seem that God has forsaken you!
The stone may have been rolled over the tomb!
The body wrapped in grave clothes!
The situation is hopeless!
The smell of decay overwhelms your senses!
But when Jesus speaks – death must loose its grip!
When Jesus speaks, cadavers walk!
John 11:43 and when he thus had spoken, he cried with a loud voice, LAZARUS, COME FORTH!
When Jesus speaks cadavers walk!
When Jesus speaks life is breathed into dead situations!
When Jesus speaks stones are removed from graves!
When Jesus speaks the putrid odor of death turns into the sweet aroma of life!
Listen! Listen! Quiet yourself before the Lord!
Revelation 1:17-18 and when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
He who has an ear let him hear what the Word is saying!
John 11:3-4 therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick. When Jesus heard that, he said, this sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
John 11:25-26 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
Believest thou this? Jesus is speaking today!
He is aware of your situation!
He knows where your child is!
He knows what you’re going through!
He knows the situation smells of death!
Believest thou this?
When Jesus speaks cadavers walk!
When Jesus speaks all of hell trembles!
You may be standing at the grave – it may appear your drug addicted child may never change – but I tell you today – Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever! The same Jesus that called Lazarus from the grave is the same Jesus that will speak life into your situation! He still causes cadavers to walk!
It may appear that your marriage is in ruins or that you’re car is going to be taken away. The doctors may have told you there is no hope! Your boss may have just handed you a pink slip! The police may have just informed you of your child’s arrest!
Whatever the situation looks like today ~ REJOICE!
Proclaim the Word just as Paul: who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:35-39)
So if it seems that Jesus has forgotten you!
If it appears death is winning!
Look up! Your redemption draweth nigh!
Traveling down your road of despair, heading in the direction of the grave, you will see the presence of the Lord God Almighty!
Fine-tune your senses! Any minute you will smell the sweet aroma of the Presence of the Holy Spirit!
Psalms 34:8 O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
He that hath an ear let him hear the voice of the Lord when he calls forth the cadaver wrapped in grave clothes!
He did it for me! I was a sinner – a walking dead woman – wrapped in grave clothes – putrid and stinking from the decay of death! Then, after many years of my parents praying, I heard Jesus speak: JOUNDA, COME FORTH!
From the first word to the last, I sat in awe. Word of God... speak. Let us hear. Let us hear with hearts prepared to also receive. Powerful, powerful, powerful how you have taken these familiar groups of scriptures and put them together in such an awe inspiring way. That's the Word in action... "The Living Word."
