A hillbilly preacher was asked to come down from the mountain to hold a service at the 1st Church of the Downright Upright.
His worn out black"preachin" suit stood out in the crowd as he entered the church, where most members were dressed in thier sunday best.
He wasnt introduced as Reverend,Pastor or Doctor since he didnt attend college or seminary.
He was never ordained by the well known organized church.Matter of fact he wasnt ordained at all.
He didnt use commentaries, thesaurus, sermon outlines or the latest book out on bible illustrations.
His library consisted on only one book and it was well worn.
As he began his message two english teachers looked at each other and seemed to cringe at his total misuse of the english language. Both were wondering how this man ever got invited to fill in for thier absent pastor.
As he continued on on in the service, the sunday school superintendent and class teachers thought they picked up on many biblical errors in his message.
Some how he seemed to place Jesus in everything he preached about.
As the message went past the 30 minute mark many began checking thier watches and looking around at each other in disgust.
And then he did the unforgivable.
He gave an alter call.
Apparently he was not aware that the 1st church of the Downright Upright didnt have alter calls.
But then a strange thing happened.
No sad music was played.
No tearful plea from the preacher.
No psycological ploy.
Just a Word from a man of God.
He said; There are many here who need my Jesus in thier lives.
You are carrying around some heavy burdens.
Some are emotional burdens.
Some are Physical burdens.
Some are financial burdens.
Some are family burdens.
All are spiritual burdens.
He is speaking to your heart now.
Please come forward for prayer now.
And then then the unimaginable happened.
They came from all over the church.
Some came for salvation.
Some came for restoration.
Some came for healing.
Many came and apologized to him and thank him for coming to thier church.
The seed can be sown by anyone.
The most educated.
The non educated.
The illiterate.
THE GROWTH OF THE SEED DOES NOT DEPEND ON THE SOWER.
Sow the seed.
It can grow alone.
