To desire for another’s destruction
Feelings difficult for others to tell…
Hidden hatred turns trust into suspicion,
Cold bitterness akin –
To the bottom of a well…
Forgiveness can never be mastered,
It’s a process – not a skill…
It must always be rediscovered,
An awareness of feelings and will…
An attitude of love,
The release of past pain…
Reconstruction of relationships injured,
Reopen hope’s gain…
No longer do we wish to punish,
Nor carry the burden to judge…
We unshackle our spirits from malice,
Restore relationships free of grudge…
The wise work toward forgiveness,
Before the sting begins to swell…
Before molehills mushroom into mountains,
Before heart's existence in jail…
Forgiveness can reconcile our differences,
Restore healing to life’s past…
To forgive another for perceived failures in life,
God allows for contentment –
Human happiness that lasts…
