Miracle Stories
Freedom for Amy Amy was only twelve, but in her childhood years, she had been continually stalked by a terrifying fear. Living in a small town in the panhandle of Texas, Amy dreaded to see winter end. Though she loved the warmth of spring and looked forward to the end of school and summer vacation, she struggled to silence the fear that rose up inside of her. The threat of West Texas thunderstorms and the devastating tornadoes they sometimes produced left her small heart racing. Amy came to know the Lord at an early age and received the baptism of the Holy Spirit when she was nine. She was familiar with the promises in God’s Word concerning protection for those who dared to believe and trust Him. However, when she tried to use her faith, the fear would overwhelm her and faith seemed to move beyond her reach. Reading Psalm 91:5, “you shall not be afraid of the terror by night,” she longed with all her heart to be set free from the tormenting fear that plagued her life. Amy began to determine to develop her faith and overcome the “terrors of the day and night” that threatening weather produced. Writing scriptures that promised deliverance on large pieces of paper, she taped them to the walls of her bedroom. As she meditated on them day and night, her faith took root and began to grow. She memorized Psalm 91. She quoted verse 11 over and over, making it personal. “He shall give His angels charge over me to keep me in all my ways,” she repeated many times as she lay in her bed at night. When the thunder and lightening would suddenly explode and some crashing into the safety of her bedroom, she would hide beneath the covers, eyes shut tight and continue to speak the promises made to her by her loving heavenly Father. Late one night as a severe thunderstorm rolled across the panhandle area, a sudden clap of thunder jolted her from her sleep. Terrified, she yanked her younger sister from her warm bed and dragged her through the house to the safety of her parents bedroom. The two of them slept there for the remainder of the night. Dissatisfied to continue to live this way and driven by determination to see the promises of God manifested in her life, Amy pressed in. Speaking the scriptures out loud, she pursued the peace God promised in His love letter to mankind called the Bible. Though she did not realize it yet, the fear that had held her captive so long was packing up and preparing to move out. Believing with all her heart that what God said was true, she knew the problem was with her, not God. Assured that He had sent angels to minister to the heirs of salvation, she continued to pray and speak the Word for protection and peace. A process of deliverance had begun in her young life for the faith she was developing and planting had moved the hand of God. She was about to reap a harvest. Late one night a dangerous storm again passed through her small town. A tornado touched down near the lake area. Amy was awakened by what she described as the sound of a freight train. Her heart was pounding and she quickly sat up bed. In the darkness, she saw someone standing near the window at the foot of her bed. Thinking it was her mother, she immediately felt a blanket of calm fall across her whole being. Amy snuggled back into the warmth of her bed and instantly fell asleep. The following morning at breakfast, Amy told her parents what she had experienced the night before. The family was aware from the morning news that a midnight tornado had taken the life of one resident near the lake. That was when she realized that the sound she had heard was the tornado passing over her home. Her greatest moment of gratitude came when she mentioned her mother’s presence at the foot of her bed. Her mother turned with a look of surprise for she had not even heard the storm and had slept through the entire night. Mother and daughter both knew in that moment that the Lord had allowed Amy’s guardian angel, to reveal himself to her. Amy’s faithfulness to speak that God had given His angels charge over her, had brought the manifestation of the Word into her situation and changed her life forever. How does Amy know that it was not a dream? After years of tormenting fear, she is free. She has never feared threatening weather again. Total deliverance became her possession that stormy, summer night. She knew that her persistence to speak the promises of God produced faith that harvested a miracle. Today Amy is grown and has children of her own. To know her is to know a woman who seems to fear nothing. She has passed on to her children the heritage of how the Word will set God’s people free. She has never forgotten the night an angel appeared in her room and God’s promises were fulfilled in a twelve year old girl’s life.

Wow! I really enjoyed it. Is that a true story? I only saw one small mistake - "Assured that He had sent angles" - should of course be angels. But other than that small, little, tiny error, it is a great piece.
May God continue to inspire you to write for Him!
Sincerely, Dan Blankenship
