Love is
Yesterday I came across a verse that I have probably read a hundred times before and yet never really seen it.
Funny how that can happen when you are reading the word of God.
One minute your reading as you usually do and the next minute the holy spirit opens your mind to really see the meaning for the first time, giving you fresh eyes and a new vision.
This day the verse was in Galatians 5:6 and goes like this.
“ The only thing that counts is Faith expressing itself through Love”
This got me to pondering the verse.
So my works are good, my prayer life is of value, but what really moves my life is the faith I express and that can be seen by the love I show.
Now that was a new one to me and deeper than any thoughts I might have had on love and faith.
So I started to think on love.
What is it? How do I show it?
Have I got it? And if so in what measure?
Can I give it out? What is the state of my faith?
How do I love what is unlovable?
Do I even love myself let alone another?
You can have many answers to these questions but my answers was” I can’t, but God can.”
So the question I should be asking is “How can I be a river of god’s love to those around me”
I don’t want to be a dam and keep it all to myself. I want to be a river of god’s love flowing into others lives.
I want to have the faith that verse speaks of. The faith to move mountains in my life as well as other peoples.
The faith to dream big dreams; hope for the impossible, love the unlovable.
That starts with Jesus and me. Getting my love from god and then walking out in that love to embrace all I meet with it.
I have to have the eyes of god to see myself, as god see’s me and to see others through those eyes of love.
I want the kind of faith that is seen in the love of god, expressed to a hurting world.
After all doesn’t everyone want to be unconditionally loved?
Start in a place of prayer and communion with Jesus, the author and finisher of my faith.
My prayer of Love:
Teach me to love as you love lord.
Unselfish love.
Consuming, overcoming, forgiving, absolving renewing, absorbing love.
Love that can cover all sin and knows no limit.
Love that uplifts the downhearted, brightens the soul, lights up another’s life.
A changing my outlook kind of love.
A gentle, fierce, humble, quiet, loud, noisy, proud gentle yet strong kind of love.
Jesus love…
Teach me to love as you love lord.
Blessings
