Being the single, childless aunt in my family; it amazes me that my nieces and nephews just love coming to my house. Here is a story that occurred a few years back. My young nephew wanted to stay at his Auntie’s house. My nephew was having growing pains in his legs and did not feel good at all.
Doing my best to comfort him, I told him “ Honey, I am not very good at this comfort thing.” His reply was “ Why?” I answered him; “ I have no children.” Once again I heard his “Why?” I answered with another answer; “ I have not found a husband yet?” To my surprise my nephew’s reply was very shocking and yet truthful… “Is HE lost?”
I do not recall exactly what I said back at that point. Maybe there is something to what children say… It makes me think of that saying “Out of the mouths of babes..”
