SHELTERED
Your eyes glance at mine
It’s as though you know my heart
A moment so peaceful ~ serene
I cannot tear them apart
Perhaps You can feel my pain
As my eyes tearfully stare
So deep ~ a bloody stain
Pain of life struggling to bear
You have been in my place
Rejected, beaten and worn
Concern express on Your face
As though Your heart is torn
If only You could hold me
I would be safe and secure
For a moment ~ erasing insecurity
Gaining strength to endure
I ask when this will end
For I struggle to continue
Searching for purpose ~ Your intent
Of what I am here to do
I question where the friends did go
The heart and helping hand
They smile ~ pretend not to know
When I thought they’d understand
For it’s as though I’m cast aside
Locked safe in another’s cage
Another day passes ~ more of me dies
Numbing life as merely a daze
I hide in You ~ nourish my soul
Knowing You have much in store
You will return, what has been stole
If I’ll trust You for so much more
So I continue ~ press on by Your grace
Surrendering to Your will
One day I’ll be in a better place
In love; joy; peace ~ still
