“Love Never Turns Back”
By
Calvin J. Moss

St. John 15:9: As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you; continue ye in my love.

When we accepted Jesus Christ into our hearts it was supposed to be for life; through the good times, bad times and sad times. The whole purpose of salvation is to save us from the consequences of sin, fellowshipping with God, other saints and telling someone else about Jesus. I wonder if many people who turn away from God know that he has feelings too. If they would just take a look back at what God has delivered them from, if they would just reminisce of how God was with them even though they were not saved. God has done so much for us to have an attitude of dissatisfaction with him because of what happened to us whatever the circumstance may be. God owes us nothing. We owe him our best. If we love God the way we say we do, we would not turn back.

We will have problems in this world whether we`re saved or not, but it is far better to have problems being saved than unsaved. We all have weaknesses and have experienced sorrows and sufferings. In Luke 22:41-44 the scriptures read: And he was withdrawn from them (disciples) about a stone`s cast and kneeled down and prayed saying Father, if thou be willing remove this cup from me, nevertheless not my will but thine be done. And there appeared an angel unto him strengthening him, and being in agony he prayed more earnestly and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Jesus could have turned back but he said nevertheless not my will but thine be done. This is the same attitude that God wants us to have when we are in agony over something or someone: nevertheless not my will but thine be done. Love never turns back. God has never done anything to make us turn back from him. That is not the character or way of God. If we turn back, it was always our decision to do so. Moreover, if we turn our backs on God, we automatically choose spiritual darkness and the devil.

Even if our sweat was as if it were great drops of blood, there is still no reason to turn back on God. Jesus tells us to continue in his love. Simple instructions. Sometimes we make his instructions difficult because they are too simple. Love the Lord with all your heart, mind, soul and strength. The bible says we love him because he first loved us. My brothers and sisters since we have this love let us continue in it. Amen.
