Sky open up! Pour down the rain,
Pour down the spirit,
Pour down my life.
Sun gaze down upon me! Shine down on me,
Shine down on my pain,
Shine down on my pity.
Empty myself, wash away the old
With your blood & tears,
You clean me, you clean my selfish deeds
You make me anew, you make me whole
No longer myself, but no longer dead!
Alive!
Finally!
Praise God!
I’m Alive!
For the first time,
no longer holding my mirror
no longer holding my scars
no longer drowning in my sorrow of tears.
A reason to live, a reason to smile
A purpose to unfold, a promise to take joy in
Your hands, your feet…
Your side, your head…
Now hold my scars, my sins
My beatings you took,
My death you stole from me…
What can I say that hasn’t been said?
What words my I speak that haven’t been spoken?
Lord, take these few words I offer…they fall so short of what you deserve…
My love for you will never unfold…
this road I may walk alone, but I will walk gladly by your side…
