Marriage
(I am re-posting this with some editing changes that I felt were necessary. A friend was going to give it to her husband, and it was then that I felt it needed some changes.)

I am writing this to you because I have comforted countless numbers of wives that are hurting inside, and very few people (if even any) know about their condition.
What I have found is, that these women have made idols out of the human that they married. Their human husbands rule over them with fear. They have made idols out of their human husbands, just as women who worship the ground that their human husbands walk on, have made idols out of their human husbands.
The amazing thing is, that most, but not all of their husbands, claim to be Christians, but not one of these men, has made Christ the ruler of his own life. And the wife might claim to be Christian, but she has not made Christ the ruler of her life either.
The typical behaviors of these husbands include: arrogance ( they are not allowing Christ to be ruler of their castles), lack of kindness, rude behavior, lack of patience (not willing to suffer without complaining), envy of what loving husbands have and they don’t, boasting of what they have done right, are easily provoked, and they refuse to; bear all things, believe all things, and hope all things, in Christ, who is our strength and our redeemer.
One of the saddest parts, of this whole thing, is that these husbands usually display these sinful behaviors mostly to their wives and families, but not to others.
Somewhere, somehow, someone forgot to teach them that sin is disobeying God and God said that His only two commandments are: to Love God first and then Love others as yourself.
God defined Love for us, so this commandment is very clear on what God expects us to be, in order for us to show our obedience to Him. He expects all Christians to be:
Patient (longsuffering without complaining)
Kind (both in words and actions)
Not Envious
Not parading yourself (boasting in any way)
Not puffed up (arrogantly thinking of yourself as more important than anyone else)
not behaving rudely
not self seeking
not provoked (easily angered)
thinking no evil thoughts
not rejoicing in iniquities (don’t justify these sinful behaviors)
rejoicing in the Truth (the Word of God)
bearing all things
believing all things (including that Love never fails)
hoping all things
enduring all things
And if we cannot do these things on our own, God has given us the gift of the Spirit of Christ, so that we could have the power to achieve these qualities, when we choose Christ as Lord.
It does not matter what you have done in this life, if you do not have Love (the above qualities), then in God’s Eyes, you have done nothing of any value in this life!
And if you are married and have children, the two biggest tests on earth will be: what place God holds in your life and how you treat your own family.
Matthew 22
36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”
37 Jesus said to him, “ You shall Love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the first and great commandment. 39 And the second is like it: You shall Love your neighbor as yourself. 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”
Psalm 143
7 Answer me speedily, O LORD;
My spirit fails!
Do not hide Your face from me,
Lest I be like those who go down into the pit.
8 Cause me to hear Your lovingkindness in the morning,
For in You do I trust;
Cause me to know the way in which I should walk,
For I lift up my soul to You.
9 Deliver me, O LORD, from my enemies;
In You I take shelter.
10 Teach me to do Your will,
For You are my God;
Your Spirit is good.
Lead me in the land of uprightness.
1 Corinthians 7
17 But as God has distributed to each one, as the Lord has called each one, so let him walk. And so I ordain in all the churches. 18 Was anyone called while circumcised? Let him not become uncircumcised. Was anyone called while uncircumcised? Let him not be circumcised. 19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters. 20 Let each one remain in the same calling in which he was called. 21 Were you called while a slave? Do not be concerned about it; but if you can be made free, rather use it. 22 For he who is called in the Lord while a slave is the Lord’s freedman. Likewise he who is called while free is Christ’s slave. 23 You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men. 24 Brethren, let each one remain with God in that state in which he was called.
25 Now concerning virgins: I have no commandment from the Lord; yet I give judgment as one whom the Lord in His mercy has made trustworthy. 26 I suppose therefore that this is good because of the present distress—that it is good for a man to remain as he is: 27 Are you bound to a wife? Do not seek to be loosed. Are you loosed from a wife? Do not seek a wife. 28 But even if you do marry, you have not sinned; and if a virgin marries, she has not sinned. Nevertheless such will have trouble in the flesh, but I would spare you. 29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short, so that from now on even those who have wives should be as though they had none, 30 those who weep as though they did not weep, those who rejoice as though they did not rejoice, those who buy as though they did not possess, 31 and those who use this world as not misusing it. For the form of this world is passing away. 32 But I want you to be without care. He who is unmarried cares for the things of the Lord—how he may please the Lord. 33 But he who is married cares about the things of the world—how he may please his wife. 34 There is a difference between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried woman cares about the things of the Lord, that she may be holy both in body and in spirit. But she who is married cares about the things of the world—how she may please her husband. 35 And this I say for your own profit, not that I may put a leash on you, but for what is proper, and that you may serve the Lord without distraction.
1 Corinthians 13
1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not Love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not Love, it profits me nothing.
