The kettle is on,
Someone is coming over soon;
To laugh or cry-one never knows,
In the morning or around noon
The kettle is on,
I hear a lot of chatter;
It’s coming from the church ladies,
Today, nothing is the matter
The kettle is on,
Sobbing can be heard;
There are people wearing black,
Here to find comfort in a word
The kettle is on,
Family and friends are here;
Lots of food has been prepared,
Thanksgiving is better when loved ones are near
The kettle is on,
No one is coming today;
Only one sits at the table,
And she has something to say
“My faith in You,
It has grown so much;
With every person who comes,
I can feel Your touch
Thank you for this silver kettle,
It provides coffee and also tea;
But most of all, dear Lord,
It brings You to me.”
