We read God’s word. His loving care, His power and might, His strength and wisdom are all portrayed through the stories and lives of others who have come before us. And we believe it. We know it was true. God was with His people. He promised to love and care for them. He was faithful to keep His promises.
But what about today?
We believe Jesus when He says He has a place prepared for each of us. We believe Him when He says we will see Him face to face. We believe Him when He says He’s coming back for us and we will step out of time and into eternity with Him.
But what about today?
Today is the difficult part. Today, when we face the problems, trials and uncertainties of everyday life. Today, when we are frustrated, confused and hurt.
On the ordinary days, in the midst of life, do we believe that God is loving us and caring for us? Do we believe in His faithfulness, in His wisdom, in His power? Do we believe that His Spirit is working in us? Do we determine to allow His peace and joy to flow through us no matter what circumstances surround us?
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8 NAS)
Jesus has shown us His faithfulness. He has given us His promises. He is the Lord of the past. He is the Lord of the future.
He is the Lord of today.
