As I awake to the rays of the boiling sun of Africa,
I sense my black skin cooked and I hide under an Msasa tree shade.
I set my mind at the astonishing flora and fauna garnishing the continent.
I take a deep lungful of fresh air and a smile thaw on my face.
I hear the birds singing and leaves rustling for me to dance.
Instead, I lift mine eyes to cloud nine and throw a little sand on my lap,
For I’m short of words to glorify God, for he is no respecter of men.
O, How good God is? At least he remembers even Africa too.
Under the tree shade a cool breeze flow by and an aromatic scent fill my nostrils.
I lie on a reed rug, perusing the scholarly books of the earth in amazement.
I come across the mind's eyes of philosophers, the truth seekers,
Who termed and labeled my continent the ‘Dark Continent’,
And called its beautiful countries, the ‘Third World Countries’, what a pity?
I am not taken aback for I know a light exists to enlighten our hearts and souls.
Jesus Christ is the light of the whole world, what a blessing?
The whole world includes Africa as well and that sounds great.
I heave a deep sigh of relief as I roll to the Holy Scriptures for the truth.
With a clay gourd of cold water set on my lips, I read the verses,
I study that, ‘ the word shall be preached to the whole world,
And then the end shall come’ for everyone to be judged accordingly.
The whole world includes my continent, Africa as well.
Africa you aren’t rejected nor famished for God’s word of salvation.
God loves and remembers you with the rest on earth.
Smile dear brother and restore your identity in God.
To seal my understanding on the truth of the matter,
I roll to the first book of the Bible, Genesis being it.
I nod as I stumble upon the first verse of the first chapter,
I learn that, ‘In the beginning, God made heaven and earth.’
I close the book for I now have the truth in my mind,
God also made Africa on earth and ‘twas his plan and saw that ‘twas good.
Yell, ‘glory!’ my motherland, you’re God’s formation.
God equally loves you with the rest in the world.
What a blessing to an illuminated so called ‘Dark continent’?
Stephen,
I love this peice!
Yes!! God is everywhere,
his love is everywhere, and best of all His salvation reaches all corners of the universe and is free to ALL who is willing to accept him and seek his Holy Ghost. That is a promise to us, from Him!
