Apart from Him, an empty jar;
On time’s dusty shelf;
I have no strength, can’t see afar,
Can’t even pour myself.
Yet He pours in, more and more,
Grace upon loving grace;
I have treasures, beyond the door,
And strength for this race.
A steward of truth, for this age,
With things, new and old;
By grace of God, a God-made sage,
With love to make me bold.
There is no mark, from without,
Where’d you find beauty with me;
Naturally, my heart’s a drought,
With His peace to set me free.
"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us."--2 Cor. 4:7
