'I Love You To Pieces”

I dreamt I was walking in a big field, carrying a basket for you, and the ground was covered with little pieces of paper, and I knew then just what I was to do.

I sat on the grass and gathered the papers round, and started picking them up one by one, and started scooping them up by the armfuls to fill the basket till it was done.

I noticed that on each little piece of paper, were the same words written in different hues, colorful little declarations of all the love I have for you.

Some said 'I love you' in red, some said 'You are mine' in blue, others declared 'My heart is yours' in pastel pink, still others colored green said 'My love is so true.'

And I finally realized just what this all meant, what it was showing to me, a visual realization of those words "I love you to pieces” put in a manner that I could see.

I laughed when I saw just what I was seeing, and hurried to gather up even more, until my basket was overflowing, a gift of love to the husband that I adore.

I like to think that each day I find a brand new basket to fill, and a new field filled with papers like dew, and I spend all my hours scooping them up, a thousand new ways to say 'I love you.’

Then I give you the basket with all the love in my heart, and then together we two, take those pieces of paper, fling them up in the sky, and dance in the rain of tiny 'I love you's!
