I Had To Be Mixed In With You

I was reading the other day about the tiny beads that I use to weave into colorful designs, and thinking about how they are made to become the shape and colors that I find.

They all begin as a tiny long rod of glass, that has a hole that runs through the center; it can all be one transparent color, or the outside can be one, the inside another.

Then they are cut into the tiniest of lengths, and heated for just the right time, to make the edges melt just a little, becoming smooth, like they'd been worn over time.

The transparent color sparkles in the light, and if there's another one inside, it shimmers through, changing the outside, giving it a look that is brand new.

I think of myself before I met you as like one of those tiny rods of glass - at the time there was a hole through the center, but nothing of value colored the glass.

Then Jesus came into my heart one amazing day, and took the plain glass that I was, and colored the center of it with His grace so bright, the shimmering silver color of His love.

Then He gently cut out all that was not needed in the new plan He had for my life, and slowly He heated and polished the rough edges, till I was remade and pleasing to His sight.

Then He brought me to a brand new place where I could be part of a design so new, and in order to make that lovely new design, I had to be mixed in with you.

God brought us together, and though we were different, our colors not the same, but distinctly two, the centers were the same, filled with the love of Jesus, that shimmered there for all to view.

We were given a bright thread upon which to string our beads, first one of yours, then one of mine...and the pattern they made, the mingling of the colors is one that will stand the test of time.

The thread of love will hold fast, keeping us close together, never to part, and the grace running through the center will smooth out any rough spots, making out of us two, just one heart.
