'And it came to pass in an eveningtide, that David arose from off his bed, and walked upon the roof of the king's house: and from the roof he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon'. (2 Samuel chapter 11 and verse 2)
There is no period of time in a Christian's walk with God, that he is exempted from the devil's onslaught of TEMPTATION. Just when you begin to see 'light at the end of the tunnel'; just when 'your breakthrough is around the corner'; just when the 'victory is about to manifest', that's the period we as saints of the Most High God experience the most vicious days of temptation. In the quiet shades of a warm still evening King David was challenged by seductive temptation and overcome by its deadly lustful power. Child of God, there is no geographical location on planet earth where the strength of evil temptation cannot penetrate. Temptation is like the "shadow of death" in the times of Moses and the Israelites 'Passover' - temptation can easily climb the roof-tops of houses, enter the privacy of flats, houses, hotels, mobile-homes, caravans and occupy parliament and king's palaces and the most 'secret of secret places!!
Absolutely, no place here on planet earth is a sanctuary from sin and temptation, and absolutely no person whether he's rich or poor, educated or uneducated, black or white is exempt from the wicked tempter of temptation, satan!
King David of the Old Testament, who most Christians can somehow relate to the fictional Hollywood character of ('007 James Bond'), who God Himself described as a man after God's own heart was not exempt. David the sweet anointed harp Psalmist of the whole nation of Israel, a man specifically and specially chosen of the Almighty Yahweh God to be king even suffered from the evil wiles of temptation, and when it came in the form of another man's beautiful wife, naked Bathsheba, it conquered him!!
Beloved, we all are subject to temptation on a daily basis but, when it comes we have to use our "weapon of warfare" the Word of God. For it is written in the Book of James chapter 4 verse 7 : 'Resist the devil, and he shall flee from you!!'
