We were once with God. That is so amazing to me, when you consider that we once lived in heaven and we were predestined to come here, we knew God before, and He knew us. To be here in these earthly vessels we are simply on a journey to find our way back to Him.
I often think that’s why it is so hard when we try to handle things on our own, without seeking his guidance, His counsel, His Grace. It’s hard, because this is a temporary home for us, with temporary duties, tasks and circumstance. It’s hard because we know there is something so much better and our minds often grasp at the possibilities of that.
Often times I hear people use the phrase, ”I don’t understand,” in this one statement we are showing that we are trying to find the answer to our dilemma on our own. We are trying to control the situation. You may think how is, “not understanding” trying to control the situation. Simply put, the more we show our lack of understanding, the more we seek to understand, thus giving up our will to allow God to move on our behalf, because if we’re controlling it, out trust lies with self, and not with God.
Regardless of what the problem or the situation, if we trust and believe that our God is who He says he is, and that we can do all things through Him, and no weapon formed against us shall prosper, why then do we need to understand. We need to learn to accept, seek guidance, trust that the guidance will come, and patiently relax.
Many times in this life we won’t understand many things, if we learn to lean not to our own understanding but in all our ways acknowledge Him, He will direct our paths. In essence, when we “don’t” understand, that is a good thing. It’s actually splendid, for the Bible tells us to “Lean Not, to your own understanding.”
The bible goes on to tell us, Our Heavenly Father’s thoughts are not our thoughts, and His ways are not our ways, so if we are seeking an understanding to our dilemma and we’re asking for Spiritual Guidance from Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, how then can we expect to receive the spiritual guidance, if we are relying on our own understanding, for in our limited understanding we don’t have the capacity to interpret the thoughts of God.
As we seek to live our lives in obedience, let us also seek to release control, release leaning to our own understanding, for in these small task of release, we are exercising Faith, and in exercising faith, we show our trust in our Heavenly Father to never leave us, nor forsake us. For in Him we live, in Him we move, in Him we have our being. Each time you hear yourself murmur the words “I don’t understand…” that is the precise moment you need to give it to God, and seek not your own understanding.
To God be the Glory for the things He has done!
