As I go about my daily spiritual journey I am always concerned for my fellow travelers struggling as it relates to quality time spent in prayer. So in this article I want to share some insights as it relates to making time for prayer. There are many ways to have intimate relations with God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit, the Comforter. I shared some aspects of my prayer walk in an earlier expose, now I am led to provide a format for busy persons who want to honour their commitment to daily prayer but are having difficulty managing the time. This format is for all Christians.

Simple Daily Prayer Format

Adoration
You begin with an act of worship. This can be in silence if you are alone or a simple worship chorus or sacred hymn such as: Lord Prepare Me, Lead Me Lord, I Love You Lord or How Great Thou Art.

Confession
Pray and meditate on any one of the following Psalms: 6, 32, 38, 51, 73, 130 [Personalise the psalm so that if reflects your own thoughts and feelings.]

Thanksgiving
Simply thank God for who HE is, what HE has done and will continue to do. Again this can be done in silence or in the singing of a chorus or sacred hymn such as: The King of Love, My Shepherd Is, Great is Thy Faithfulness, God is Good [Don Moen song] or You Deserve the Glory.

Supplication
End with prayer of intercession for others and close with the “Lord’s Prayer” or Doxology.

Please remember as you use this format that you are at all times to be led by the Holy Spirit. This means that sometimes you will spend a longer or shorter time doing the exercise. Don’t dwell on the amount of time spent, but the quality of the time spent. This format that can be used in the home, on the job or school [where allowed], alone or with a group.

It is my prayer that anyone who uses this resource will be blessed and bless others.
