Dusk to Dawn

She felt the light fade within her soul as despair clutched her heart. Lose her mate to some insidious disease - some ugly, unnamed invader? Darkness continued to descend, minute by minute, the seconds creeping by like little crawly, black ants drugged by a hellish fear.

Darker, darker, the flame of hope flickered, faltered. It seemed the eyes of her heart would no longer see, no longer dream of bright tomorrows.

The dimness shrouded her; she could no longer see the Healer.

But Light returned, as it does to those who trust, to flood her soul. Blinded, overwhelmed, confused, grateful, teary, anxious…she turned toward its warmth. She already knew that dusk leads to darkness, but is always followed by dawn – the dawn of new hope.

“You…who turn blackness into dawn and darkens day into night…” Amos 5:8

Weeping endures for the night, but joy comes in the morning. He makes beauty of ashes.
