I'm the Queen of Procrastination and Excuses. It's a vast kingdom, this dominion of mine. I've ruled here for, oh, about 30 years!
There's no bread and water in this kingdom, no-no...only the best foods to distract me from doing what I ought- what I'm designed for, what gives me purpose. Only chocolate and cheesecake and lots of cups of coffee. Mexican food, Italian, Thai, Indian....and doughnuts...any exotic flavour, any sugary delight...anything to stop me writing!
There's no time for computer and keyboard, because there's too many things I must see on TV. I put it down to "research", but I must confess I rarely take notes!
Okay, fantasy over. When it all comes down, there's really no excuse for not doing anything. I can sit and stare and daydream and think about writing my life's masterpiece, but until I start writing it's not gonna happen!
So here I find myself again today, thinking about writing...wishing for some inspiration, some revelation. And I'm suddenly remembering the words of one of my favourite authors, Paulo Coelho...I wrote to him a while back, thanking him for sharing his gift with the world and asking for any advice he might give a fledgling writer such as me, and he simply said, "Karen, just write!"
So, on that note, I think I'll go get another cup of coffee and a doughnut (tee hee)!!!
