That ol’ cross is more,
Than an old piece of wood.
We ask that you put it back,
Somewhere in sight if you could.
We know it’s not the original cross,
That He died on years ago,
And we understand it interferes,
With the lyrics and stuff they want to show.
But to some of us that ol’ cross,
Is a reminder of His mercy and grace,
And every time we see it,
We’re reminded of the agony on His face.
And how He suffered for us,
And paid the price for our sins.
And yet He still loves us,
And forgives us over and over again.
So we’re asking you to take that ol’ cross,
And put it back in sight.
Let it continue to remind us,
Of His glory and His light.
Let us honor and praise Him,
As King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Creator of all,
By remembering Him with that ol’ cross,
That hangs upon the wall.
