Today they brought your body home
From dry and dusty sand;
In honor to salute the son
Who fell on foreign land.
Amidst the tears and sorrow stands
The mighty, young and proud;
The son who gladly gave his life
Now wrapped in Heaven’s shroud.
And while the world stands silently
In reverent humbleness;
We give to him the honor due
A final place to rest.
No longer fighting earthly foes
His glory now is found;
Within the Presence of His God
With splendor all around.
This life is only temporal
The ending’s just begun;
For Life began for Brian through
The death of Your Own Son.
There is no greater love than this
Than he who gives his life;
To save someone he doesn’t know
To fight for what is right.
You know and understand the loss
And though hearts feel the cost;
We’re comforted in knowing that
His life was never lost.
And though we mourn in tribute to
A life no more to roam;
Because of love and its great price
A Soldier’s finally home.

Written for the Romine Family on 6/15/2005 the day the motorcade, transporting his body came through Vienna, Illinois on the way to the funeral home. Brian was buried in Anna, Illinois at the Anna Cemetery with full Military Rites.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Brian was a 2003 Graduate of Vienna High School, Vienna, IL. He joined the National Guard and was deployed to Iraq last year. He was 20 years old. Thank you Brian for your sacrifice of service, we are proud of you. There aren’t enough words in the human language to express the gratitude in our hearts, and the grief we share with his family.
“No Greater Love has any man than to lay down his life for another.” Thank you Brian, Because of Jesus Christ, we will see you again!
