The tomb is empty. She wonders where Jesus can be. Had someone stolen his body? Did He really rise from the dead? Her heart beats with uncertainty as she peers once more into the empty grave.
This time she saw two angels. One angel was sitting at the head of the grave clothes and the other at the feet where Jesus had laid.
Then Mary turned around and saw someone. “Sir, where have you taken his body?” John 20:15. (KJV) She asked whom she thought was the gardener.
He spoke so gently and lovingly her name. “Mary.”
“Rabbioni?” (Means Master.) John 20:16.(KJV) Maybe at the moment of recognition, she fell before his feet knowing it was Jesus her Lord and Saviour. What a precious moment. To see Jesus standing before her in his new resurrected body. To know that He is alive just like He said that He will rise again on the third day! Mary’s fears and anxieties of the past two days melted away in His presence.
Yes it is the first Easter and people will never be the same again. The world will be vastly changed because no other religious leader has risen from the dead.
Only Jesus can conquer the grave and pay the ultimate price for sin. He can set free from the grave of sin and eternal separation from God.
What a joy Easter brings, knowing there is more beyond the grave. To have a Saviour who willingly and lovingly came to die on the cross. He paid the price for sin by the shedding of His blood. Now He extends salvation freely to all who will call up on His name.
My heart overflows knowing that I am no longer held in bondage to sin. My life does not end at the grave. Easter came to my heart when He arose within and forgave me of all my sins and set me free.
