While listening to music last night, I was struck at how many different ways there are to express praise to our Father above...from massed choirs and orchestras booming out full rich sound, to a lone guitar plucking a haunting melody...and it reminded me of our love.
Sometimes the music is exuberant and loud, shouting out our love for each other, no orchestra too big, no sound too loud to play the symphony of our love.
And the sounds fill our world with joyous, wonderful sound, drowning out any grayness, discouragement or doubt that may try to come sneaking around.
Other times, the music is softer, a warmer, gentler sound, it's quiet, lovely notes float on the air, like the touch of a breeze against your face...and the joy that fills each note is like a gift, presented directly to our hearts, and lets us know that no matter what comes, we will never, ever be apart.
The most lovely music of all, though, I think, is that made by a single guitar, with two notes sounded with each movement of the hand, a duet of love heard only by the ears of the heart.
One note is a little higher, pulling the melody along, the other is lower, supporting the sound, adding richness and harmony to the sound.
And the perfect resonance of the two notes make a melody sent straight from God above, to rest in our hearts, its beauty soft and sweet, the perfect expression of our love.
