I am whole
I have eyes
to see the world,
to behold beauty.
I can see
the distant stars
and the shadows
on the cave wall.
I have ears
to hear,
and to listen.
I can enjoy
the music of man
and of beast,
and the spoken word.
I have a mouth,
to speak,
to communicate.
I can talk,
explain, comfort, joke.
I can eat,
taste the fruit.
I have hands,
to make,
to write.
I can mold,
shape and mend,
sow and reap.
I can work.
I have muscles
to give me strength
and movement.
I can walk,
run and climb.
I can fight
and carry others.
I have a heart
to pump blood
so I may live.
I can love
and hate,
be afraid and
give warmth.
I have a mind
to think,
to understand.
I can question,
bring forth new
knowledge and
hold infinity.
I am,
but to be whole
I need more.
Flesh is grass,
I hunger for more
than bread.
I need the truth,
the good news,
the word.
