Kingdom Authority

Matthew 8: 5-13
The Roman centurion was ‘under authority’ (verse 9) he realized that his authority was from the Emperor of Rome and that he had the power of the whole Roman Empire behind him.
This soldier knew his own limitations but he saw that the Roman Empire was bigger than all his enemies because Rome had proved its power and conquered the world, the men under his authority knew that they too were under his authority and thus the authority of the Empire and so all the power and might of Rome was behind them when they went to battle.
Listen when the local police come to arrest someone they do not arrest him in the name of constable so and so or detective so and so, they arrest him in the name of the law, a name backed up by the entire police force that are backed up by the nations army.
Listen to this man speak of the authority and power he knew so intimately, He says to Jesus, ‘Lord I am not worthy that you should come under my roof, but speak the word only and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority having soldiers under me: I say to this man go and he goes; and to another come and he comes, and to my servant do this and he does it’
Straight away Jesus stops him, jumps up in praise of this Roman conquerors revelation and declares; ‘truly I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel’
The Lord was saying; you have got it, you know how power works, you have seen that it is not your small power but the might and power of Almighty God that rules over you that destroys your enemies.

Listen children of God; it took a Roman soldier to teach Israel and you and I how Kingdom authority works, how faith is not based on our ability but on the ability and power of Almighty God, this Roman knew his own limitations but he also recognized the awesome authority of Christ.
When his Roman Emperor spoke he jumped, he never questioned his superiors, when they sent the word he went to war for he was under authority and recognized it when he saw it in Christ, when he told his soldiers to go they never asked where and when he told them to come they simply obeyed orders.

He saw what all those around Christ never saw, he saw more than the Pharisees who thought Christ had a devil, he saw more than the Scribes, for they only tried to trap him into speaking a word of blasphemy.
This man, this so called dog; saw more than the murmuring and questioning crowd for he saw that Jesus had so much power that he called him ‘Lord’ not once but twice.
This man realized that Christ’s authority deserved worship; he came worshiping who Christ was and so this conquering hero of Roman victories set aside his own authority and gave Christ his rightful place and asked him to give him a word only. When confronted with Christ he saw how unworthy he was to even ask for help and yet he knew how authority worked. He was declaring; ‘your word is enough to heal my servant’ ‘speak the word only and he will be healed’

‘Our Kingdom Authority’

When are we as children of the kingdom ever going to realize the authority we have been invested with? When are we ever going to understand the truth that was revealed to this Roman Centurion?
We in ourselves are weak but with all the power and authority of the word of God behind us we are more than conquerors. (Romans 8:37)
Christ sent his word and healed people, ‘He cast out evil spirits with His word’ (Matthew 8:16) ‘He laid hands on the sick and healed them all’ (Luke 4:40) ‘He healed all that had need of healing’ (Luke 9:11)
This is the same Jesus who said to the disciples ‘the works that I do you shall do also and greater works than these shall you do because I go unto my Father’ (John 5:20)
If we truly believe that Jesus is the word of life then why are we not bringing life to the dying, if he is the healer of men then why are we not healing the sick?
If he is the vine and we are the branches (John 15:5) why are we not pouring out His life giving power to heal the hurting, the deaf, the dumb, the lame, and the blind?
Can it be that we have believed the lie that Satan has power to overcome us when heaven has declared that ‘we have overcome the wicked one’ (1 John 2:14) can it be that we have never understood that ‘all things are under Christ’s feet’ and that as His body we have power and authority under God by the Holy Spirit to ‘destroy the works of the devil’ (1 John 3:8)
Children of God arise, awaken to your place in creation, its not to be feeble knees rather to be the hands and feet of Christ the almighty, the ‘Lord of Hosts’
‘For the guaranteed expectation of the creature awaits the manifestation of the sons of God’ (Romans 8:19-23) Listen children of the most high God, creation itself is waiting patiently for you and I to manifest the authority of Christ and the power of God.
Heaven won the victory, Christ overcame Satan defeated him head on and made a show of him openly (Colossians 2:15) that’s why Jesus could say ‘behold all power has been given to me in heaven and in earth’ (Matthew 28:18) that’s why he could commission the early church and send them out with confidence to cast out devils and to heal the sick (Mark 16: 16-18)

The whole authority and power of heaven, the entire resources of God were at His disposal, He knew it and the early church grew in it and stood firm against every foe.
The early church had no theology they had the word of power and used it to heal the sick, to preach the gospel and to raise the dead, they had no ‘me-ology’ either as ‘each one esteemed the other higher than himself’ (Philippians 2:3) They had all things common (Acts 2:44) the lost were their goal, the gospel of Christ their only tool and the Lord worked with them confirming the word with signs following (Mark 16:20)

What was the secret of their success? Simple really, they believed in the totality of Christ’s authority, they fully trusted in his word and knew with deep conviction that they had the whole resources of heaven was available to them.
The followers of Christ knew that if they spoke Heaven stood to attention and ‘sent forth angels, those ministering spirits, who are sent forth to minister ‘for them who are the heirs of salvation’ (Hebrews 1:14)

If Jesus could have called forth 12 legions of angels (Matthew 26:53) to save him from the cross don’t you think that heaven has enough angels to overcome our enemies no matter what or who they are? Considering that one angel is going to have the joy of booting Satan into the lake of fire why should we fear what he can do when we have so many on our side.
If God be for us who can be against us? (Romans 8:31)
My how far have we fallen away from such simple truths, we believe in doctors instead of the Great Physician the God who declared to murmuring Israel ‘I am the Lord that Heals you’ (Exodus 15:26) we believe in theology instead of the simple truths that are easily found in Gods word, we take the word of some man which is flawed at best and set aside Gods word of power. Worse still we ‘make the word of God of no effect by our traditions’ (Mark 7:13)

We allow so called men of God to teach lies and to deceive the children of God, men who are ‘like clouds with out water, carried about by winds, trees whose fruit withers, without fruit, twice dead plucked up by the roots’ (Jude 1:12) men who look the part but are wolves in sheep’s clothing (Matthew 7:15 ) men whose words have no power, men who have a form of godliness but deny the power thereof. (2 Timothy 3:5)
Instead of the glorious liberty (Romans 8:21) which is our inheritance as Children of God we are found shackled again in the bondage of corrupt man made theories, laws and half truths.

Listen; it was Jesus who said ‘the kingdom of God is within you’ (Luke 17:21) unlike the Roman Centurion we do not need to wait for the power to come down, we are to walk in it, we do not have to pray it in for it is within us, it is our inheritance, ‘its our new birthright in Christ’
When we realize that Christ has been given all power and that His power is invested in us by the Holy Spirit, it is our enemy who should quake and not us.

Have you not read that all the authority of heaven is in the name of Jesus and that all the power of heaven has been given to us His Body?
We have been given ‘power to thread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and nothing shall by any means hurt us’ (Luke 10:19) that means you and I and every child of God regardless of age.
My grandson Joshua gave his life to Christ when he was three and a half years old, at age 4 he came in as I was just about to pray for two dear ladies who had been crippled with arthritis for many years. He asked could he pray for them and two minutes later they were dancing round our kitchen table.
Age has no bearing on whom God would use, young Joshua’s hands may have been smaller than mine but his authority came from the same Christ.
Class has no bearing on the wisdom of God to use the foolish and the weak to bear the gospel for I have seen societies rejects heal more people than those who preach from pulpits on Sunday.
Creed has no bearing on Gods choice to use the base things of this world so that no man can steal his glory for I have seen Him use the most of the wall, unlearned men and women to set people free.
All these people had one thing in common a simple faith in God, a simple uncomplicated child like faith that was unwavering at least until the so called ‘knowledgeable’ got to them.
Truly God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34) he would use a donkey if no one would speak for him (Numbers 22:30) and he would raise up stones if no one would praise him (Luke 19:40)

I have seen with my own eyes the damage that is wrought to childlike faith by carnal teaching; young Christians once filled with zeal now filling pews instead of saving souls; young men and young women of God once filled with joy now filled with heaviness because they have been told they are not able to preach or teach Gods word until they go through bible college.
People of God once flooded with simple faith that would move mountains now destitute because someone said ‘you’re not ordained or worse still, ‘not good enough’

Awaken oh church; awaken child of God, all the authority all the miracle working power of heaven is in you for you are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16) its time to become foolish in our own eyes and wise in God, its time to manifest the power of God in the nations and to bring the children of promise home.
We need to return to ‘the Book’ and not the man made notes in the margins, in these last days its time for the church of Jesus Christ to be the power house of the Almighty God that it was birthed to be, its time to become a generation of whom it will be written ‘these are they that turned the world upside down for Christ’ (Acts 17:6)
Its time to follow the leadings of the Holy Spirit and to heal the sick and when asked how to simply report as Peter the apostle declared; ‘in the name of Jesus Christ whom men crucified and whom God raised from the dead even by Him does the sick become whole’ (Acts 2:10)
Its time to dare to ask God to ‘stretch forth His hand to heal so that signs and wonders would be done in the name of His holy child Jesus’ (Acts 4:30)
Its time to stop ‘preaching with enticing words of mans wisdom and for us to demonstrate the miraculous working power of the Holy Spirit’ (1 Corinthians 2:4)
Its time to that we allowed the ‘power of Christ to rest upon us regardless of how weak we may feel, (2 Corinthians 12:9) for ‘we live by the power of God’ (2 Corinthians 13:4)

Like the Roman Centurion it is not our strength, it is the strength behind the name of Jesus Gods Son that defeats every enemy, when we are under the authority of Christ we have all the resources of His grace to call on in time of need. (Hebrews 4:16)
Its time to realize ‘what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe according to His mighty power’ (Ephesians 1:19) and to rejoice that that same power ‘has set Christ far above all principalities and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in the world to come’ and that God the father has put ‘all things under His feet and gave him to be the head over all things to the church; which is His body the fullness of Him who fills all in all’ (Ephesians 1:20-23)

Come church catch the truth; see that because Christ is seated in the place of authority at the Fathers right hand He is above not just some powers but ‘all powers’ see that because He is the head of the church over all things then ‘we too are seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus’ (Ephesians 2:6)
We are seated in a place of authority not defeat, we are Christ’s ambassadors on earth with all the power that He possesses behind us, and we have been given the privilege to enforce the victory which Christ won at Calvary.
‘The servant is greater than his Lord’ (John 15:20) but we are under His authority and command and because He was never defeated neither can we be, even death has no sting to the believer, the grave no victory (1 Corinthians 15:55)

We walk in the authority of the name that is above all names and He is able to do exceedingly abundant above all we ask or think according to the power that works ‘in us’ (Ephesians 3:20)
Look for yourself for even here in this one verse we see that ‘the power works in us’ transferred to His body on the earth so that we would not suffer defeat nor ever lack the power to finish the course.

‘In Christ all the fullness of the Godhead bodily dwells and He is the head of all principality and power and it’s in him that we are complete’ (Colossians 2:9-10) if Christ dwells in us by the Holy Spirit then all the fullness of the Godhead bodily dwells in us!! Does that sound as though God meant us to be at the mercy of Satan? No it means Satan and his minions are under our feet through the authority of Christ.

Its time church to arise out of the slumber which we have been rocked into by religion, its time to be shaken into action, to ‘fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness and to work the work of faith with power’ (2 Thessalonians 2:11)
We are ‘partakers of His divine nature’ (1 Peter 1:4) and as Christ proved, God nature is unstoppable and unbeatable, He stands supreme as the undefeated champion of the universe, He is our mighty God the Lord of all, and we are under his authority.
Listen please; when God speaks to us, we as those whom He chose, ordained and set apart for His glory, are called ‘to do mighty exploits’ in His name not to run at the first sign of battle.
The devil has no power over any blood washed child of God in Christ, he has to bow before the name of Jesus Christ for he was totally defeated and all we are called to do is to ‘stand fast in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free’ (Galatians 5:1)
We are not called to become ‘entangled again with the yoke of bondage’ ‘we are not under the law rather we are under grace’ (Romans 6:15) and as such are ‘set free from the law of sin and death’ (Romans 8:2)

That’s why you can submit to God, stand up to Satan, stare him in the face and tell him to be removed because he has no power in a faith flowing, grace filled environment, you are free for ‘He that the Son sets free is free indeed’ (John 8:36)
We have not been set free so that we can live in defeat, we were purchased with a price (1 Corinthians 6:20) so that we would set nations and peoples free from the ravages of sin, sickness disease, fear and death.
We were set free to preach the good news of the Gospel, to reveal Christ to a blinded world and to demonstrate kingdom power to a dying world, we have the resources, we have the power, we have the word and we have the authority of heaven, all that is lacking is the will.
As we see the curtain closing on the final act of this age it behoves us to work while it is still day for the night is coming when no man can work, (John 9:4)
