There is a popular book out there called Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. The whole idea of this book is wrapped in the idea that just because we differ in gender we differ in everything else. All I can say about the book is I didnít need a book to tell me that. I know my wife and I differ in the way we communicate. Let me give you an example my wife will ask me why I did something and I will answer just because.
Now what exactly does that phase mean? I donít really know I just use it because I canít think of anything else to say. Why didnít you take out the trash, just because? Why didnít you fix the plumbing in the basement, just because? Now I think it is very hypocritical that as a parent we can use that phrase when our kids ask us why they cannot go somewhere but when it comes to using it in a conversation with my wife I get in trouble.
That little phrase ďjust becauseĒ has brought about more conversation and argument in my household that any other thing I can think of well except for maybe not marking things on the dreaded back door calendar, but we will talk about that later. I did not really understand how annoying the phrase was to my wife, just because I never took the time to.
Woops there I go again. Let me explain why I think the phrase ďjust becauseĒ is irritating and itís not just because my teenagers use it too much it is just because exactly what does it mean. I know I asked that question already but I want to know who started using that phase and if it is the same person who started using yes, but and but in a sentence to get themselves out of trouble.
The problem with this communication thing is that I do not think my wife uses the phrase just because as much as I do. I think it is just because there are times I am not paying attention to her when she is talking and since I donít know what she said I do not know to how to answer the question I was just asked I simply say just because. I still have not figured out why she gets mad at me for that. I know it caní t be just because there has to be more to it then that. Well hopefully someday I will figure it out.
For now I guess I will just have to sit back and wonder about this communication thing between men and women. I wonder if God made us so we communicate differently so we could complement each other or just because He has a sense of humor. I think I am going to end this article right now not for any other reason but just because.
I hope you are reading this article just because you think it is funny not just because there was nothing else to do with your time. Oh yeah I felt like I should write a little more just because. I hope by now you are tired of seeing the phrase just because and you can see how annoying it can be when someone overuses it in a conversation. This means the next time your husband or wife ask you why you did something you tell them donít use just because as a cop out. Also when your kids ask why tell them donít leave it at just because.
God explained everything to us in the Bible. He did not say listen to me just because but hagve us 66 books of information on why we should liten to Him because He knows better how we should live. The next time you are tempted to say just because think about how you would have felt if God only sais to us just because.
